Rule of Bali Driver
Bali is small island with good roads and regular transport. Denpasar is the transport hub of Bali. Once You've got out of the southern Bali traffic tangle, the roads are remarkably uncrowded. Tranffic is heavy from Denpasar south of Kuta and Sanur, east about as far as Klungkung and west as far as Tabanan. Over the rest of the island it;s trouble at all and mostly it's very light. If you've got your own motorcycle, bicycle, or vehicle finding your way around is easy - roads are well signposted and maps are readily available. Off the main routes, roads often get very potholed but most roads are surfaced.
Beware of pickpockets on bemos or private transports - on common tourist routes like Denpasar to Kuta beach they've become notorious. While someone engages you in a frienly conversation, his accomplice is cleaning you out, often using a painting, parcel or similar cover to hiode the activity. Sometimes half the bemo will be in on the game, so the odds will realy be stacked against you. A lot of unfortunate visitors have suffered from these people so take care, particulary on those heavily used tourist routes.
